Frequently Asked Questions

If your question isn't answered below then please feel free to give me a call.

When do I have to pay?

Payment is due at the time of your consultation. I have HICAPS for private health fund claims, plus EFTPOS for debit and credit cards.

What your rebate comes to depends on your fund and the level of cover you hold, so it is worth checking with them before your first visit — they can tell you exactly what you will get back.

Is physiotherapy covered by Medicare?

In some circumstances, yes. You need a current referral from your GP. You pay the full treatment fee and then claim the rebate back from Medicare yourself — the current rebate for physiotherapy is $52.95*.

Once you have reached the Medicare Safety Net your rebate may be higher. *Subject to change without notice.

This route exists for people with complex, long-standing conditions and must be set up by your GP under an Enhanced Primary Care Plan. Not everyone qualifies, so it is worth raising with your GP to see whether you are eligible.

Can I use my private health fund?

Yes — the clinic is connected to HICAPS, so you only pay the gap on the day.

Funds and policies vary a lot, so contact yours for an estimate of your coverage. Physiotherapy sits under private health 'extras' cover.

What will I need to bring?

Depending on what we are treating, I may ask you to change out of some clothing. Gowns are here to borrow, or bring your own if you prefer.

If you have recent x-rays or reports that are relevant, please bring them along.

What happens on the initial visit?

I take a full history of the problem, then examine you physically. From those findings I put together a plan for you — which may include exercise, movement correction, hands-on techniques and advice. You will usually leave with a program to work on at home as well.

How often do I need to come for treatment?

Appointments are one-on-one and unhurried — I allow at least an hour for each.

How many you need depends on the condition, so I will give you a realistic idea of the timeline when we first meet.

Do I need a referral?

No — you can see a physiotherapist in private practice without one. I do work alongside your doctor where it helps, and keep them informed through treatment and at the end of it.

A current referral is required if you are claiming under WorkCover or CTP.

Do you treat WorkCover patients?

Yes, as long as you bring the following to your first visit: a doctor's referral, your claim number, your insurer's details, and the claims officer's details.

If your insurer has not accepted liability, or you do not have that paperwork yet, you will be billed at the time of consultation.

Do you treat DVA patients?

Yes. Your accounts are billed directly to DVA, and a current doctor's referral is required.
